After having been in Kuwait for over two months now and having observed this country's intense love for fashion and obsession with custom design, I ask, why not design gowns that complement the wearer? What is this trend of "fruit-cake fashion" I'm seeing here, which neither looks beautiful on its own nor makes the women wearing the gown look any more attractive?
A perfect example of my most detested
"fruit-cake fashion"
On the most significant day of her life, why should the gown overshadow the bride? Is there a way to embellish gowns to meet the taste of the Middle Eastern woman but also make her look breathtakingly beautiful?
Of course there is--Christian Dior introduced the world to the concept of timelessly beautiful gowns in the late 1940s and I dare to continue it in 2011.
Oh Kuwait, where has all the elegance gone?
